Letter From the Chair

The Canadian Paint and Coatings Association (CPCA) represents Canada’s major paint and coating manufacturers and their industry suppliers and distributors. The Association began in 1913 as the Paint and Finishers Council and early on received support and funding from member companies who realized there was a need for strong industry representation for the sector. The Association's objectives are fully embraced by our members as CPCA celebrated its 100 anniversary in 2013.

Our sector's paint manufacturers represent an industry that has production and administrative staff in 261 establishments across Canada. This represents direct and indirect sales of approximately $10 billion annually and directly and indirectly employs approximately 32,800 people in Canada.

As a sector, we are dedicated to improving the environmental and consumer friendliness of our products while at the same time ensuring that our products perform for you. Our tradition of proactive environmental activity is based on technical investigation and strong case preparation. It is also grounded in sound science and strategic sector analysis.

We have sought to create regulatory and policy frameworks that allow governments to meet environmental objectives while helping industry meet business objectives. Sustainability is critical for our collective future.

Membership in the CPCA confers important benefits, including a role in helping shape our industry’s business environment and access to mission-critical information. Consider how we can work together to meet the aims of our industry, government and the people of Canada.

Thank you for visiting our website and if you are in the paint and coatings sector please join us. Together we can take on the many issues and challenges before us and shape our industry for years to come.
