GHS Training

CPCA is pleased to partner with ICC Compliance Center (ICC) to offer training to its members on the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS).

ICC is a premier provider of hazmat compliance solutions for regulatory transportation and workplace safety.

GHS will be implemented by Canada in the first part of 2015 and this alignment will bring major changes to the existing Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), such as the Hazardous Products Act and Controlled Products Regulations. The Hazardous Products Regulations (HPR) replace the Controlled Products Regulations. The proposed HPR was published in the Canada Gazette, Part I in August 2014, and came into force in Canada Gazette, Part II on Februray 11, 2015.

It will be important for companies operating in the paint and coatings industry in Canada to fully understand the changes that will be made to GHS in Canada thereby ensuring their companies are in full compliance and thereby assure the health and safety of their workers.

This partnership provides CPCA members with discounted rates on ICC’s in-person training classes across Canada for GHS Supervisor Manager and GHS Classification, as well as an online store for easy access to ICC’s online courses on GHS and other topics.

CPCA strongly recommends that its members start training their employees as early as possible in the new year prior the official coming into force of GHS in Canada on June 1, 2015.
